There is nothing better than keeping your head and hands busy when your mood is not at its best, which is why these days I have been looking for ideas to recycle some wooden slats that have been left over from different jobs and I have come across a series of proposals for recycle wooden rulers, the typical ones used in fabric stores, haberdasheries, tailor shops or carpentry shops. As some of these ideas have seemed very interesting to me, I wanted to share them with you.

1.- Decorate the front part of a piece of furniture

This old piece of furniture has been given a second chance by painting it a dark color, giving it a coat of wax and decorating the entire front with wooden rulers. The rulers have been dyed to give them different shades and create an even more decorative effect.

The final result is surprising since it has little or nothing to do with the old wooden furniture that it was originally.

2.- Decorate the top of a table

In this case we have used the wooden rulers to decorate the top of a small table which was badly damaged. To do this, first of all, the table has been painted white but with a worn appearance. The rulers have been glued to the top and given a layer of varnish to protect them. The result is an original vintage table with which we can decorate any corner.

This solution is ideal for furniture that for some reason has a very damaged upper part, with scratches or chips.

Some wooden rulers can help us to organize drawers, for this we only have to cut them to the desired size and join them with glue. In a moment we will have made some dividers to have everything organized and well placed.

The “leftovers” from other jobs can lead to new and very interesting DIY projects. In this case, taking advantage of two wooden planks and combining them with rulers, you can make a box or drawer, for this we will cut all the rules to the same size and join them to the boards with glue and a few nails. If you cover the boards with fabric or paper, you will have a very original and decorative box.
