Amazing before and after of a terrace

before-and-after-a-terrace

On many occasions, major reforms are not necessary to carry out a radical transformation, the terrace of this penthouse in Milan is a clear example. Don’t miss the amazing before and after a terrace which has gone from being a gray and lifeless place to an oasis in the middle of the city.

You may have wondered why I never talk about plants on this blog. The truth is that I have two good reasons:
1st.- I have no hand with them: either I drown them or I kill them of thirst.
2nd.- If any plant survives my pigweed, it is unlikely that it will resist the attack of one of my three cats.

However, the fact that I do not have plants at home with some exceptions (catnip, parsley and basil), does not mean that I do not like them, especially when they are in a garden or terrace. Plants bring life, color and joy, in fact it seems incredible how much a terrace can change from having plants to not having them.

The terrace of this penthouse in Milan was totally wasted, as well as gray and without any charm, it had horrible panels that did not let you enjoy the views.

The walls hadn’t even been painted, they were just plastered and you could see the remains of some small reform or repair that they hadn’t bothered to hide.

The first thing that was done was to remove the panels and replace them with a white lattice, in addition, the entire floor was tiled with ivory-colored tiles and a workbench was built around the entire wall that delimits the terrace. With this change, the terrace opened up to the city, the truth is that it was absurd to live in an attic and not be able to enjoy the views.

The next step was to give it color, for this a series of pots were distributed on the trellis.

The pots were all white and rectangular or square in shape and different types of plants were placed inside them.

In this way color was added to a terrace in which white predominated, but at the same time it was possible to continue enjoying the views through the free gaps in the latticework.

On the side wall, a planter was placed on the workbench, in addition to ambient lighting.

Bit of a change, right? It seems incredible that it is the same terrace, now it not only seems much larger due to the light tone of the tiling and walls, but it is also full of color and joy thanks to the plants.

In the following video you can see the process to convert this gray terrace:

What did you think of the before and after a terrace gray and graceless in Milan? Before they made you want to run away and now it’s full of charm, right? Renewing the tiling, painting walls and placing plants, put like that, it does not seem that the reform has been a big deal, but seeing the final result there is no doubt that only with these changes has a spectacular change been obtained.
