You already know that particularly in decoration I have always defended the personal style versus trends and fads, but this does not mean that I do not like to be aware of what is worn or not worn and adapt it to my tastes. When Pantone published its Color Report for 2015 it pointed to Marsala (a reddish brown similar to burgundy) as the color of 2015, however reviewing its palette I’m left with the Scuba Blue by Pantone or «blue dive»in short, an intense turquoise color that will bring freshness and joy to the decoration of any home.
I find it curious to see that I already incorporated Pantone’s Scuba Blue (or a very similar shade) when I renovated one of the bathrooms in the summer of 2013.
I also recently added a few splashes of deep turquoise to the bedroom update.
It’s not that I’m ahead of my time, I just give priority to my tastes and I’ve always loved turquoise in general. If it is also now a fashionable color, we have the advantage that it is easier to find ideas that can inspire us when incorporating Pantone’s Scuba Blue into the decoration.
How to use Pantone’s Scuba Blue in decoration?
Intense colors such as Pantone’s Scuba Blue are ideal for drawing attention to a particular decoration object or area. of our home, therefore it is convenient to use it in small doses so that it really highlights what we want to extol.
For example, if what we want is to color the walls with this intense turquoise, it would be better to use it only on one wall and paint the rest in a neutral color. But if what we want is for the Scuba Blue color to be present in the decoration without it being the main protagonist, we can include it in small details or decoration objects such as rugs:

The great advantage of this option is that all these elements can be replaced or tuned when we get tired of them: the mats can be changed. the chairs and the table can be painted and the sofa can be reupholstered or renewed with a cover.
But if what we like is to take risks, if we are not afraid of getting tired of Scuba Blue, it can be used in elements whose expected duration is several years, such as bathroom tiles or kitchen furniture.
How to match Pantone’s Scuba Blue?
Being an intense color it will work well with all neutral colors: the full range of greys, black and white, as well as earth tones and tans.
But also with others just as intense that are analogous, in fact Pantone proposes combining it with two other colors from its 2015 palette: Classic Blue and Lucite Green.
This Pantone suggestion gives rise to very refreshing combinations that look great in wedding and event decorations, for example.
It is curious how combining these three colors and a bit of imagination achieves an original painting.
It also looks great when combined with colors like lime green, especially in children’s and youth rooms.
Or with orange or red for those who are not afraid of color.
