Homemade trick to clean a burnt pot

I admit that I am a bit of a disaster in the kitchen, in fact the house cook is my boy who has a much better hand than me. One of my problems in the kitchen is that I get distracted easily, I start doing other things and I go to heaven, so it is quite common for my food to end up burning. If it also happens to you even from time to time, do not miss this homemade trick to clean a burnt pot.

normally when I burned a pot, saucepan or frying pan what he did was let it soak for a couple of hours with a little detergent, then he rubbed vigorously with the scourer and after a while he managed to remove the burned part. In addition to the time and effort I spent cleaning, this solution was not very useful for the back of the pot (the one that is in contact with the fire or with the vitro), since no matter how hard I rubbed, there were always traces of dirt.

Then I leave you an image of my last “oversight”, as you can see the bottom and sides of the stainless steel saucepan have been left in shame.

The rear wasn’t much better either:

To solve it and restore its shine, I thought of trying a home remedy: rub with a ball of aluminum foil, After all, if aluminum foil was able to remove rust, it might also help me clean a burnt pot.

To do this, what I did was pour a couple of drops of detergent and make a ball with aluminum foil big enough to be comfortable to hold with your fingers. Then I rubbed the entire surface of the saucepan with it as if it were an eraser (it is necessary to make a small effort but much less than if you rub with a scouring pad).

Then I leave you the image of how the inside of the saucepan turned out:

Incredible true? The rear part was also cinematic:

This trick is useful for cleaning stainless steel, enameled and pyrex pots, but I do not recommend using it on Teflon-type coatings since it can scratch the surface. I also advise the use of gloves if you do not want to end up with blackened fingers as it happened to me. In addition, from time to time, it is advisable to rinse the pot or saucepan with water to better see the part that has been cleaned, then add a couple of drops of detergent again and continue rubbing.

UPDATE: If the burn is very persistent or a sizable crust has formed, I recommend first heating white vinegar inside the burnt saucepan until it starts to boil. At that time, remove the saucepan from the heat and pour baking soda, letting it sit for a couple of hours. Then start rubbing with the ball of aluminum foil, starting at the edges until the burnt part is removed.

Finally, don’t throw away the ball of aluminum foil when you’re done, it can be used to clean new burns by wrapping a new sheet of aluminum foil around it, or to eliminate static electricity from the dryer.
