As you know, the three pillars of our project are DIY, manuals and creative recycling.
In the forums dedicated to this type of recycling, it is mainly the recycling of plastic bottles. However, there are many other materials with which creations can also be made. really original as well as functional and, above all, helping to care for the environment.
Among these materials are, for example, metal cans, glass bottles, plastic and paper bags, the latter also known as kraft bags and even cardboard packaging.
Precisely this article we have dedicated to this last material for two main reasons.
On the one hand, cardboard is very present in our daily lives, since it is used in many types of packaging and packaging. We can find them in kitchen paper rolls, toilet paper rolls, all kinds of packaging and cardboard boxes, as well as in a multitude of food product containers, such as egg boxes.
And on the other hand, the enormous variety of formats in which we can find this material, and the tremendous ease when it comes to working with it, offers us an immensity of possibilities when it comes to making any kind of craft and of creative diy.
Without going any further, a project that is more DIY than manual is to build practically any type of furniture with corrugated cardboard.

Original, unique, functional, resistant and, more importantly, respectful of the environment.
In general terms, I will summarize below, succinctly, the steps to follow to carry out this and other creations with cardboard.
We make a template with the different pieces that we are going to use.
With these templates we are taking several sheets of cardboard for each piece. The more sheets, the thicker and, therefore, greater resistance.
The easiest and fastest way to make the cuts is using a cutter and a metal ruler.
In the event that there are many parts needed, we can list them to make assembly faster and avoid possible confusion.
Once all the pieces are cut, we join them, one by one, with vinyl glue, better known as “carpenter’s glue”.
We are applying the glue, with a brush or roller, to the entire surface and join the pieces by exerting some pressure.
Once the glue dries, we assemble the different pieces or “blocks”, also with glue.
The last step, with which we will be able to provide great resistance to the cardboard, in addition to protecting it from occasional splashes, will be to apply several coats of varnish. The more layers of varnish, the greater resistance.

The great malleability of cardboard makes it possible to adopt practically any shape in a simple and comfortable way. An example of this is this other circular shelf with wavy crossbars.
How is this achieved?
We glue the pieces with the shape we want to achieve. When the glue dries, the cardboard remains rigid in the shape we have given it.
As you can see, cardboard has infinite possibilities from an aesthetic, decorative and functional point of view.
To do this, you just have to have a little imagination.
