5 painting projects to do on vacation

paint-projects

We are already immersed in spring, we have more daylight hours and the temperature is pleasant. If we also have a few days of vacation ahead of us, perhaps we are considering doing those painting projects that we had parked waiting for the good weather.

Experts recommend painting at a temperature between 10º and 30º and a relative humidity of the air not exceeding 70%. In spring, although the weather is quite variable, it is easier for these conditions to occur (at least in my area), which is why it is perhaps one of the most suitable seasons to carry out our DIY painting projects.

1.- Paint a room or the whole house

Painting the walls and ceiling is one of the most effective ways to change the appearance of a room economically and without reforms.

If you don’t know which tone to choose, the Pantone company presents a letter every year with the colors that will be in trend.

For example, if you like Scuba Blue in this link you will find several ideas that will inspire you.

If neutral colors are your thing, in this link you will find the keys to achieve a living room like the one in the following image.

But if you prefer the simplicity of white, at this link you can see different proposals adapted to each decorative style.

On the other hand, if what you want is paint the ceiling Check out this link to do it like the pros.

2.- Paint the tiles

If the tiles in the bathroom or kitchen are older than you but you are terrified to get involved in construction, the solution is very easy: paint with special paint for tiles. In this link you will find a practical Guide with the keys on how to do it.

Personally, every day I am happier to have painted the tiles in my bathroom. You can see the step by step at this link and how the paint has responded after a year of daily bathroom use at this link.

3.- Lacquer the doors

If you do not like the color of the doors of your cabinets or the doors, you cannot miss this link where you will see step by step how lacquer cabinet doors.

If you previously have to stripping layers and layers of paintperhaps the best solution is to use a heat gun. Did you know the large number of uses of a heat gun? You can see them at this link.

4.- Paint a wooden piece of furniture

A damaged wooden piece of furniture can be given a second chance thanks to paint. In this link you can see how with a couple of coats of paint this chair has been given a facelift.

Also thanks to painting we can decorate unattractive wood such as wood from pallets or wine boxes. In this link you will find the steps I took to paint a wine box and recycle it as a tray.

And in this link how I painted another wine box to use as a jewelry box.

On the other hand, if you like decoration with a vintage air, don’t miss these ideas to decorate with wooden rulers. In this link you can see the step by step to make them yourself.

5.- Paint a melamine piece of furniture

Can melamine furniture be painted? It is a question that I have been asked several times and the answer is always the same, of course!

I have painted melamine furniture with spray (you can see the step by step in this link).

I have also painted them with special paint for tiles (you can see the step by step in this link).

But since I discovered homemade chalk paint (you have the “recipe” here), I no longer use another to paint my melamine furniture. In this link you can see the change of this library.
