Last Christmas I was doing a series of posts on DIY gifts or gifts that you could make yourself. One of those gifts was some flower-shaped felt brooches that were quite successful, thanks to them I discovered that I liked working with felt, so I want to show you the brooches that I have been making these last weeks to give to family and friends. If you follow me on Facebook you may have already seen some of them and if not, I hope that by seeing them you will find inspiration for your DIY gifts.

Felt is an inexpensive material, quite easy to work with and with which you can get very good jobs with a little dedication. No great knowledge of sewing is necessary, just a little dedication and patience.

1.- Flower-shaped felt brooches

These were the first brooches I made, each one represented a kind of flower but they all had the same colors to form a harmonic composition. In this link you can see the step by step.

Such a brooch can be a DIY gift for all ages as it looks just as good on a girl’s headband as it does on an adult’s coat, for example.

2.- Lady felt brooch

I have always liked the ladylike style so in the next felt brooch I made I was inspired by it, for this, in addition to felt, I used fabric scraps that I fixed to the felt with fabric adhesive. For the coat buttons I used flower-shaped beads and small pearls as earrings and to simulate the shoes.

This brooch will delight any friend or family member who is flirty and likes small details.

3,- Kokeshi dolls felt brooches

The kokeshi They are traditional Japanese dolls that are made by hand. Due to its shape, it is very simple to make and at the same time very successful, especially if we choose a nice fabric for the kimono. In the next brooch I used a patterned fabric in shades of blue that I decorated with small rhinestones.

Although it is a brooch that can be liked at any age, perhaps it is the young people who most identify with this style.

4.- Vintage felt brooches

These vintage felt cameos They are ideal for all those people who like to wear a small and elegant detail. Its vintage style is very trendy and perhaps more appropriate for more mature people.

In making these brooches I used small pearls and rhinestones to decorate the neck, as well as lace and hair ribbons.

5.- Veterinary felt brooch

This brooch was a small detail that I wanted to have with my veterinarian since a couple of months ago one of my cats was sick and she was very attentive to him (although with the punctures she gave him, I don’t think my cat thinks the same ). In gratitude I made your alter egoa mini-vet in her work clothes to which I embroidered a small cat print.

By making DIY gifts as a token of appreciation, we show gratitude twice as we are not only giving a gift, but also offering our dedication and time.

6.- Box coach felt brooch

The next felt brooch was for a friend so I wanted to do something that I knew I was going to get right. She’s an amazing fitness trainer and she’s passionate about her work, so I thought I’d make a little replica of herself.

When we give gifts to close people we play with the advantage that we know their tastes, their passions, their hobbies… Take advantage of it so that your DIY gift is as unique and special as the person you are going to give it to.

A few days ago a friend had her birthday and I also wanted to make a felt brooch as a detail. This cheerful biker It does not lack detail, neither in front nor behind, because even if only the front part of the brooch shows off, the fact of outlining every last detail transmits all our love and dedication to the person to whom you are going to give it.

What do you think of these? DIY gifts? Which one of these 7 ideas of felt brooches did you like it more? Although they are of very varied themes (vintage, oriental, alter ego…), they all have in common that they are made with love for a specific person, for this reason a DIY gift is always worth double, because you don’t just give an object but also a small part of yourself.
