This summer personalize your beach hat with spray paint, for this you will only need your favorite color from the Pintyplus Chalk Paint Spray range. I warn you that it hooks, when you see the final result you will want to have everything to match: bag, sneakers and even the pareo.

July has started with a new challenge from the Handbox Community and Novasol Spray. On this occasion, the challenge is to carry out a DIY using your favorite color of Pinty Plus Chalk Paint Spray and make a creative photo. In it, in addition to the DIY, the bottle of Chalk Paint Spray that has been used must appear and share it on the Instagram profile.

I am lucky to have tried the wide range of colors of Chalk Paint Spray from Pinty Plus. Choosing my favorite is not an easy task, even the ones I like the least have their charm when they are tinted or combined with other colors. For this reason I have finally decided on the one I love the most, since it was the first one I used: the mint green.

With this color I recovered an old rusty coffee grinder:

I also used it to update a table and its chairs:

What could I do with him now? Bearing in mind that we are in summer and that mint green is a color that I find very refreshing, why not use it to customize a beach hat with spray paint?

How to customize a beach hat with spray paint

I love beach hats, they not only protect from the sun but also combine perfectly with both beach and street looks. A few days ago I bought the one that appears in the following image because I liked the wavy shape of the wing, however I was not convinced that the cup was white so I decided to paint it.

Spray paint is ideal for painting on raffia, wicker, rope, etc., with it a fine and uniform layer is created that is hardly imperceptible. In addition, these materials can be customized very quickly, in this case it only took a couple of minutes to obtain perfect coverage.

For the customization of the beach hat I opted for a simple design: I would paint everything mint green, leaving two unpainted stripes on the brim area that would contrast with the tone of the raffia.

What has given me the most work has been mask the part you didn’t want to paint, since you have to cut small pieces of bodybuilder tape to give it a rounded shape. In the area where the cup and the wing meet, I ran into the problem that the masking tape would come off, so what I did was place adhesive vinyl that has better adhesion. Then I glued the masking tape on top to give it the rounded shape.

In the brim I was introducing the ribbon little by little below the braided strips that form the hat. After an hour of patience I managed to mask what I did not want to paint.

But the end result was definitely worth it. In just a couple of minutes I sprayed the entire hat with Chalk Paint spray and this is how it looked after removing the tape:

Making of of a creative photo

I already had the DIY with one of my favorite colors of Pinty Plus Chalk Paint Spray, but I was missing the second part of the challenge: a creative photo with DIY and spray can.

Where could I take a photo with my personalized beach hat? I didn’t have to think too much, I grabbed my carrycot and put the towel, the camera and the bottle of mint green Chalk Paint Spray inside. Next I got my boy out of bed to drag him down to the beach.

Go ahead, I’m too embarrassed to take photos, but a challenge is a challenge and I took it as a new challenge. That yes, at 9 in the morning we were already on the beach since it was the only way not to find too many people and to be able to take photos with some peace of mind.

Although I post step-by-step images of my DIY projects on the blog, I usually have to do several tests and attempts until I get the best result. This time I want to show you part of the «making of» so you can see that these types of projects require time and preparation, although it is also true that they can be a lot of fun. In fact, despite the embarrassment, I have to admit that I had a few laughs:

– Seeing the faces and neck twists of my boy trying to find the best shot
– Finding the right moment so that no one would appear in the photo walking along the shore or the excavating machine that was cleaning the sand at that time
– Dodging a wasp that approached me with dark intentions as soon as I sat on the towel
– Finding a small space without footprints in the sand to take the photo with the hat and the spray can
– Doing the discarding of the photos: this one is not that you can see the michelin, this one is not that I am with my mouth open, this one is not that the spray can is not seen, this one is not that I do not like the pose…

In short, after a gazillion photos I have chosen the one shown below for my participation in the challenge. Not only does it look like the custom hat and color I used, but it also looks like I’m relieving the heat by ‘sipping’ from a can of refreshing mint green Chalk Paint Spray by Pinty Plus.
