When I saw the original state of this apartment I thought of all the houses that, more than a major reform, what they need is an urgent update. For this reason, it seemed to me the ideal example to give some advice on how to update and change the look of our home without spending more than necessary.
The flat is about 118 m2 and has a living room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. From the entrance there is direct access to the living-dining room, which is connected to the kitchen. In the following images you can see how it was before and after the reform.
The keys to this transformation and so that your budget does not skyrocket are the following:
- Paint works miracles so start painting the walls. In this house, the light color has been combined with the elegance of navy blue with a magnificent result.

- Changing the distribution of the partitions will make your reform more expensive, for this reason to gain space you have to do without all the furniture that is not necessary. - It is always visually less cumbersome to distribute several shelves on the walls and small pieces of auxiliary furniture than a large piece of furniture that occupies an entire wall, for example.
- When it comes to renovating the furniture, bet on pieces made by yourself, such as wall shelves, the dining table or the bar cabinet. You can buy the wood in DIY centers and apply different techniques to give it a vintage, industrial, etc. look.
- Another interesting option is to visit flea markets and second hand shops. In them you can find pieces that after a facelift are impressive, such as the recovered armchair or the glass teardrop lamp that can be seen in this house.
- To decorate the walls you can frame old photosin this way a nice vintage effect or contrast between old and new is created, with a minimum investment.
In the kitchen, the reform has been comprehensive since the distribution has been changed and the furniture, countertops, appliances, etc. have been replaced.
If your kitchen just needs a facelift, you can take advantage of it and save yourself a lot of money by following these tips:

The bathroom has also been completely renovated as can be seen in the following image:
Undoubtedly the most economical option when updating the bathroom is paint the tilesbut if you are determined to change them you can also save quite a few euros by lay tiles only in wet areas like the shower or bathtub.
In this case they have been installed imitation wood tiles in the shower area. This type of tiles bring warmth to the bathroom without the drawbacks and care that wood requires to protect it from moisture. In this link you can see how I used this same resource to reform one of my bathrooms.
finally in the bedroom the rule has been appliedless is more«. In the first place, the curtains have been dispensed with so that the light floods the entire instance. In addition, the room has been visually lightened by painting the window frames and the ceiling lamp in white. Finally, the space has been redistributed, placing the desk on one side and making the most of natural light.
On the other hand, it has opted again for the combination of white and navy blue for the walls in order to bring elegance to the room, while achieving a relaxing atmosphere that invites you to rest.
In the other bedroom, blue has also been chosen, but combined with pieces of natural wood and small white auxiliary furniture.
In short… with a large budget you can do wonders but it is not essential nor should it be an impediment when it comes to renovating our home. Excellent results can be achieved with good materials, ingenuity and a little skill. Just by painting the walls or tiles and changing the floor yourself you will achieve a great change, if you also dare to make and tune the furniture, the renovation can be radical for much less than you imagine.
