Mannequin hanger for doors with recycled materials

The other day I was commenting with some friends on the value of gift handmadethe one that may not be perfect or very expensive, but with large doses of two things that are priceless: time and love. Precisely thinking about this kind of gifts I have made this mannequin shaped door hanger and that can serve us both to have a small detail with a friend or family member, and to decorate the doors of our home.

For its realization I have used recycled materials (“leftovers” from other crafts), so financially it has not meant any extra outlay, something that comes in handy in these times of crisis.

The body is made with denim left over from cutting the hem of a pair of pants. It is not a good idea to throw away those little scraps that are left over from hems as they do not take up much space (they can be stored all together in a small box), and they can also be used to make fabric ornaments with which to decorate other garments, hair ornaments , to make patchworketc.

The lace ribbon that I have placed on the denim is a leftover that I also had saved. If we do not have any tape, we can replace it with a scrap since, being the body of denim, any pattern or color will do well. We can even take advantage of a piece of fabric that is left over from the fabrics with which we have decorated the room in which we are going to place this beautiful mannequin.

To spice up the ribbon a bit, I sewed some small sequins about embroidery. This is one of those details that helps to personalize our mannequin and make it unique. If you don’t have sequins at home, you can place jewelry beads that you no longer use.

To decorate the body of the mannequin I used a bow that I removed from an old t-shirt that I recycled for rags. Sometimes we buy clothes and accessories that have decorations and that should be saved to use them in our crafts.

We can replace the bow with pretty buttons, or make a bow ourselves, or even use the small bows that often adorn many lingerie garments.

For the filling I used foam from a cushion although cotton can also be used if we do not have any that we no longer use. As a hanger I have used a rope belt that I had frayed in one of its parts. For this I have sewn to the body the part of the belt that was fine and with the frayed part I have formed the head of the mannequin. In this way, something has been reused that in principle had lost its functionality and that was for the garbage.

If we do not have a cord or rope, we can also take advantage of trimmings or make a cord ourselves by braiding yarn. mannequin-hanger-for-doorsAs you can see we can get a nice mannequin hanger for doors taking advantage of remnants and remains of beadseven objects that have lost functionality due to deterioration (as is the case with frayed cords).

Also, if we want to have a special detail with that friend or family member, we can customize it as much as we want, adapt it to your tastes, to the decoration of your home. sure you know value the time and care invested in this small detail.

I hope you liked it and it has inspired you, if so please share it with your friends.
