Mistakes when placing wallpaper

One of the main characteristics of wallpaper is its easy installationhowever sometimes they are commented placement errors that make the final result not the expected one. If you plan to install wallpaper, read the most frequent installation errors beforehand to avoid them and obtain a professional result.

1.- Buy the paper without taking into account where it is going to be placed

exist different types of wallpaper (click here to see the types of wallpaper), whose characteristics and properties make it more suitable for each room. For this reason, before deciding on a model, we should read carefully what material it is made of, its resistance, if it is washable, if it is suitable for wet areas, etc.

2.- Buy glue without taking into account the type of paper

Not all wallpaper glues are suitable for all types of paper, nor are they all applied in the same way. In the market there are different types of glue depending on the type of wallpaper. In addition, depending on the wallpaper, the glue should be placed only on the wall, on the wall and on the wallpaper or only on the wallpaper, so it is very convenient that before starting to put up the wallpaper we read the installation instructions carefully.

3- Not preparing the wall

Many times we launch to place the wallpaper without taking into account the base. In order for the paper to be fixed correctly, we must previously repair the defects that the wall may have (cracks, chips, etc.). It is also convenient that we clean it of dust so that when applying the glue it adheres correctly.

4.- Apply too little or too much glue

In order for the fixed paper to be fixed correctly, apply glue evenly, whether we do it on the wall or if we have to place it on paper. If we put too little glue, the paper will peel off over time and will deteriorate more easily. If, on the other hand, we put too much glue, it will protrude through the joints of the paper when we smooth it with the spatula and it can stain it and make the final result quite ugly.

5.- Use more than one roll to wallpaper the same wall

Sometimes the tinted wallpaper rolls it can vary from one to another, so it is advisable that whenever we are going to install wallpaper on a wall, all the strips come out of the same roll. There are XXL-size rolls on the market that will make this task easier without wasting too much paper.

6.- Place the strips flush with the ceiling

Normally we are guided by the ceiling to place the strips of wallpaper but it is not convenient to do it flush since the ceiling may be uneven and make it not quite straight. We must always leave a couple of centimeters more in the ceiling joint and another couple in the baseboard, which we will cut with the cutter once we have installed the wallpaper.

7.- Do not spread the wallpaper after its placement

When we put up wallpaper it is not enough to pass our hands to fix it to the wall, to minimize the risk of bubbles remaining we must spread it also with a brush or cloth and, in addition, pass a small roller or spatula to eliminate the small air bubbles that may have remained.

Have you ever made these mistakes? I can assure you that yes, so I hope that after reading this entry you do not fall into these mistakes when placing wallpaper.
