If you are not very carnival, you do not have to take away that illusion from the little ones in the house. They are the ones who have the best time on these dates.

We have developed this tutorial precisely for you, if this is your case. Here we leave you a video-tutorial which shows in great detail how to make a child mask in eva rubber, for carnival.

MATERIALS:

  • Eva rubber sheets in green, purple, black, white and orange.
  • Template. (You can download it from our blog, by clicking on the link that appears on the screen).
  • Scissors.
  • Marker pen.
  • Black elastic cord (not too thick).
  • Punch.
  • Hot melt adhesive gun.

LET’S GO THERE!:

Step 1: We transport the template to the green EVA rubber sheet. We will have to get two equal figures.

I advise you to make the template on cardboard instead of paper. Being more rigid, it will be easier to contour.

In the access just below you can download the template:

Step 2: Now we cut with the scissors the two layers of the mask.

To cut out the eyes, use small scissors, it will be easier for you.

Step 3: Once the base is made, we must cut the template into the different pieces that we will need to compose the mask.

Step 4: Now we are going to cut the two pieces that will form the mask. Transport the templates the purple eva rubber.

Draw the lower part as it appears in the video. Then you will see what it is for.

Once the two pieces are drawn, cut them out.

Step 5: Draw the upper part of the snout, only on one of the two bases, and cut it out.

In this same piece, remove the bow part of the mask.

On the other piece that is the same, mark and cut out the part of the bow that will not be seen. In this way, later we can fit them both.

Step 6: To see if we are doing well, or if it is necessary to make any corrections, we present the pieces that we have cut.

Step 7: We take the cardboard template again and cut the mouth. Do not throw away the inner part as you will need it later.

We drew the mouth at the base where we had marked the top of the snout, and cut it out.

On the other base we will do the same but, this time, we will make it larger (leave a margin of approximately one cm all around the mouth).

Step 8: On this last piece, put the black EVA rubber sheet and press the entire contour of the mouth. This way it will stay marked.

Cut it, it will be the inside of the mouth.

We present it in its place and, if necessary, we go over it a bit with the scissors until it fits.

This is how it will stay.

Step 9: Now we proceed to join both layers with the hot melt adhesive.

To give the mask a bit of curvature and adapt to the shape of the face, we are going to use a rubber burrito. But you can use any other object or surface with which you get the desired shape.

We apply the adhesive and quickly, we place it in the desired position until the adhesive sets. Once dry, the mask will stay in shape.

Step 10: Now we glue the bottom of the mouth, which we had cut before, and the bow of the mask.

Step 11: We go over the excess with the scissors, so that both layers are well flush.

Step 12: We mark with a marker where the holes for the rubber will go. And we make them with the punch. (Put a piece of EVA rubber or leather behind the mask, so as not to damage the blade).

Step 13: Now we cut the template corresponding to the teeth and the tongue.

And we transport them to a piece of white and orange foam, respectively, and cut them out.

Now we glue them in place.

Step 14: The next step is to pass the rubber through the holes we have made. As you can see, we have made it double so that it fits better to the head, but you can make it simple.

Estimate roughly the length.

Step 15: Now we glue the mask in place. You should tuck the bottom under the top of the snout.

Now the rubber bands will be hidden by the front part of the mask.

Be careful not to put too much adhesive and overflow being visible.
