Hoses for water or flexible plumbing tubes

In a recent meeting with a good colleague from old business dealings, commenting on the latest personal and general events, the subject of a recent home breakdown came up that gave him real headaches, not because of the amount of the aforementioned breakage, but if at “reveler” which is such a mishap.

I just told him something that I have been doing since this type of pipe became common in plumbingand it is nothing more than occasionally replacing these hoses.

Check that the inside of the “Flexible” is of EPDM or what is the same, ethylene propylene diene rubber. The best for liquid pipes that can withstand from -40º to 140ºC, very useful for abrasion and wear, as well as chemicals and acids.

I don’t understand threads or males or females… but I think one end is female and the other male.

If in doubt, ask your assistant at the Hardware Store, he has it mastered for sure.

And now what do I do?

Then turn off the water supply and unscrew the flexible hose from both ends. Screw the new hose in the same position and you’re done.

I’ve already changed it…

Open the main stopcock and check the tightness for a few minutes.
Really simple, it is not complicated at all to do this.

You should also change the hoses on single-lever faucets!

And how I do it..?

Simple, disassemble the tap, unscrew the hoses (hot and cold water) from the water outlet and when you have the tap out of the location, unscrew the fittings that are housed in it. These are differently shaped with a thread measuring 10 millimeters.

If the measurement is too long and the hardware store does not have the length you need, you can join two of them to get the necessary measurement.

And that’s it, friend, if you go on a trip, or if you have an empty property for some time, or you simply want to make sure that one of these breakages pipelines do not complicate some days, for little money you have guaranteed the tightness and safety of your installation of plumbing.
